5th Annual ‘Over the Edge Charlotte’ Takes Places Oct. 6

Participants Will Rappel Down 10 Stories at the Embassy Suites Charlotte Uptown

CHARLOTTE, NC (Sept. 28, 2023) – Step Over the Edge on Friday, Oct. 6 and join the NASCAR Hall of Fame Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, on its mission to provide all students access to STRE(A)M educational opportunities. The beloved annual “Over the Edge Charlotte” event will take place on the NASCAR Hall of Fame plaza from 9:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

“In the last fiscal year alone, we have served over 14,000 students through the NASCAR Hall of Fame Education programming. Of those, more than 4,000 were provided Foundation scholarship support,” said Winston Kelley, Executive Director of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. “Our sport has a longstanding tradition of winning through innovation, and this is the passion we want every student that walks through our doors to take with them.”

Among the many rappelers signed up, NASCAR Cup Series driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will be trading fire suit for harness as he goes over the edge for the first time at 1:15 p.m., to support Foundation scholarships for summer camps and school field trips to the NASCAR Hall of Fame. In addition, local Mallard Creek STEM Academy teachers Allison Kropf, Kelsey Lawhead and David Fox will bring nearly 100 students to enjoy educational activities on the plaza and watch as Kropf, Lawhead and Fox rappel together. Their school has benefitted from the scholarships granted by the NASCAR Hall of Fame Foundation.

Whether rappelling or attending in a show of support, everyone is invited to participate during the day-of activities on the NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza including:

  • Live DJ entertainment
  • Interactive games such as putt-putt and Plinko available to play for a small donation
  • Live demonstrations of family-friendly activities with a racing-themed curriculum
  • Complimentary sample size Italian ices, for the first 100 guests, from Jeremiah’s Ice from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Meals, drinks, and snacks available from The Smashed Patty, Asian B On Wheels, and Taqueria El Flacko food trucks from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • Complimentary cookies from Tiff’s Treats for the first 150 guests from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • Body Armor product tasting from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Explore the Whole Foods Market table
