Field Trip
Itinerary

Here's a minute to minute guide of what to expect the day of your visit to the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

If you have any special requests or questions, please do not hesitate to contact our staff.

Arrival and Check-In icon

5 - 7 Minutes
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time to check-in. Staff members will greet you at your bus and walk your students to our group entrance on Caldwell Street. The lead teacher will check in the group by providing your final headcount of students and chaperones and payment. Pre-payment may have been made by your organization’s Field Trip Coordinator.

Gathering Your Group icon

~10 Minutes
Students should be arranged in groups (1 chaperone for every 10 students) before entering the building.

Each group leader will receive a schedule highlighting individual timelines for exploration and discovery, including staff-led activities. Group schedule and sample individual chaperone schedule is sent prior to your visit. An individual chaperone schedule (by number or color groupings) is provided when your group arrives during the chaperone orientation.

Welcome Orientation icon

15 Minutes
The orientation highlights the sport of NASCAR and engages students through an interactive discussion. During the discussion, specific education objectives which relate to selected workshop topics, as well as the science of NASCAR, will be highlighted with students. If your group has a particular educational goal, please let us know learning objectives.

Chaperones and group leaders will receive a separate logistical orientation to review schedule, map and rules which will prepare them for directing their students to specific activities.

Orientation ends (for most groups) by viewing 12-minute film highlighting the NASCAR Hall of Fame’s history and the history
of NASCAR.

Exploring the Educational Features of the Building icon

1.5 - 2.5 Hours
Chaperone-led exploration of the exhibits, activities and touch-screen interactives are scheduled by recommended time blocks for each group. Activities and discussion points for chaperones are provided; they’re also available in the ‘Learn More’ section of the touch screens.

Included physically active job-skill activities:

Pit Crew Member: Working in teams of three, students assume one of the roles of a pit crew member including lifting the car with a jack, changing a tire or filling the
car with gas.

Simulated Racing Experience: Students will participate in a driving experience and see themselves projected virtually on a computer screen. Students will need to steer and press gas/brake pedals.

Educational Learning Sessions icon

30 - 90 Minutes
Schedule one or more of our staff-facilitated educational workshops, classes, challenges and seminars. Each session is designed to connect core curriculum standards and objectives to real-world application through NASCAR. Select from one of our 30+ different subjects/topics that will meet your needs.

Simulated Racing Experience icon

30 Minutes
Participants compete against 14 other participants in a computer-simulated, timed race at one of the NASCAR tracks. Skills used in experience include steering, acceleration/deceleration, braking and utilizing hand-eye coordination to become the fastest driver. Recommend activity for grade levels 5th and up.

Lunch / Pit Stop Café icon

30 Minutes
Schedule a lunch break for your group. There are various options for lunch, including purchasing a meal at the Pit Stop Café or bringing your own lunch to enjoy on the NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza.

Gathering and Exiting icon

10 - 20 Minutes
